SUMMARY:Dash & Copper: Circus Dogs at the Reedsburg Library
DESCRIPTION:Circus Dogs Dash and Copper Take the Stage at Reedsburg Public Library\n\n \n\nCircus Dogs Dash and Copper will take the stage at the Reedsburg Public Library on Tuesday\, July 2\, at 6:00 p.m. The program is part of the Library's Family Fun Night lineup for the summer library program. All ages are invited to attend. No registration is required.\n\n \n\nSharon Page\, trainer of Dash and Copper\, is based in McFarland\, and has performed in circuses\, on stage and television\, and on four continents with her various pets. Over the years\, her dogs have won 112 titles\, certificates and versatility awards in 11 sanctioned dog sports. Page uses only force free\, reward based methods in her training. To date\, Dash and Copper know over sixty tricks and have performed for audiences ranging in size from 10 to 1\,500. They have performed for school and corporate events\, festivals and of course\, summer library reading programs.\n\n \n\nAn avid reader herself\, Page estimates that she reads over 150 books every year. She boasts an undergraduate degree in Chemistry and a graduate degree in Zoology/Animal Behavior from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her work with animals has taken her across the globe. She rode a rescued horse across Costa Rica in 1993\, and lived in Turkey from 2007-2012\, where her dogs appeared in that country's "Got Talent" show. In her library programs\, Page shares with her audiences how reading has led to amazing opportunities and memorable experiences around the world..\n\n \n\nThe library performance is approximately an hour long\, and features a combination of music\, humor\, props and audience participation. Both Dash and Copper have earned the American Kennel Club's highest trick dog title\, Trick Dog Elite Performer. If it seems that you have seen the dogs before\, it may be because several of Page's dogs have appeared on Hallmark cards\, ads\, photo albums\, holiday ornaments and over 30 greeting cards.\n\n \n\nIf the performance of Dash and Copper only whets the appetite for canine interaction\, library patrons should remember that the "Read with Me" dog will visit on July 10\, and July 24 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Kids of all ages can sign up on the day of the program to read to this specially trained dog\, sponsored by the National Literacy Program.\n\n \n\nFor questions about these or any other library services or programs\, call the Library at 768-READ (7323)
