SUMMARY:Buckthorn Round-Up Spring 2016
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, May 13\, 2016 through Sunday\, May 15\, 2016: Boy Scouts Troop #247 of Reedsburg along with the Disconsin Disc Golf Club present the Roger Popple Nature\nArea Buckthorn Round-Up Spring 2016. Buckthorn is an invasive species that has overtaken a vast majority of the land within the Roger Popple Nature Area. the Disconsin Disc Golf Club has been attempting to remove buckthorn to reestablish the pre-existing trails as well as establish new lanes to erect an 18-basket disc golf course. With efforts like this\, our community is nearing the time where a tournament capable disc golf course can coexist with the natural beauty surrounding the trail system. All volunteers are greatly appreciated! \n\nBring shovels\, garden shears\, gloves\, or other garden tools if you have them. The majority of the buckthorn is hand pull-able so we need lots of people with gloves to do most of the pulling. Friday night will be an educational session to help you identify the plant and best ways to remove it. Actual work will take place Saturday and Sunday. This project is being led by Braeden who is a Scout working on the Hornaday Conservation Award. Drop in volunteers appreciated. Please bring your own lunches and/or dinners. Volunteers of all ages and abilities allowed! Bring your children to help and learn! Come for an hour or stay for the day!\n\n\n\nFor more information call (608) 727-2120 or email Scoutmaster Julus Pahl julusphal@hotmail.com. Also\, visit https://www.facebook.com/Troop247ReedsburgWI
